She made a lot of mistakes and I love that. Shes honestly up there to being my favorite because she isnt perfect and I love that. She, herself, was Different and that's what I absolutely LOVE about Pink. Her backstory was inspiring as she managed to make a better version of herself instead of being another tyrannical being like the rest of the Diamonds. Everyone just needs to have their villain and unfortunately people have made Pink that simply because they dont like her which is tremendously sad. She didnt think about the future consequences cuz at that point in time her decision to have a colony turned the destruction of Earth as a consequence and she fought that. Pink did what she thought she had to do concerning the current circumstances and thoughts. What else was she supposed to do, throw another tantrum and get thrown into her "cell" again? We've all made choices and decisions that have come back to bite us in the ass. As for the war and everything else, agreed!! Pearl even stated herself that Pink Diamond, as Pink, tried to stop the colonization but it didnt work. I've done it, my friends have done it, it's an every day thing. Guaranteed, unless you're an absolute saint, we've all had that one super annoying friend that we gave up on. And honestly, the fact that everyone thinks that Pink is "the ultimate villain" just because she left Spinel are people who havent had to give up their childhood yet or have never had that one friend that was super annoying to hang around. Sometimes the decisions you make has consequences, and just like everyone else, Pink had to grow up and leave her childhood behind. You can see she was trying to be mature when Blue and Yellow told her about receiving Earth and how she was trying to maintain her calm while Spinel was hopping around everywhere.
A mature Diamond and as far as she knew, Blue and Yellow didnt play around with Spinels.
And when Pink got her colony, she thought she was ready to finally be like Blue and Yellow. To add onto this with leaving Spinel: she left spinel because, yes.
